Merci Hugo
— ElenaI have lost track of the number of books that I've read with Hugo. The French Book Club has been a source of both learning and simple pleasure; of improvement in my French; and of new, ongoing friendships. Hugo is adept at bringing everyone into the conversation as well as providing enrichment information so that the books we read are set in fascinating historical and cultural context. Highly recommended!
— VirginiaThis book was fascinating because on the surface it is a mystery thriller but Hugo helped us understand that it is also a treatise on writing and being a writer. Very intellectually stimulating and entertaining and always with Hugo’s engaging and informative point of view!
— JillAmazing course, deep analysis of the not so easy book. Relaxed atmosphere, humor and welcoming personality of the professor, adds pleasure to a group reading and makes the discussion more profound. Thank you, Hugo!
— MarinaPossibly the craziest book I've yet to read in French, also one of the most satisfying of contemporary novels. This one would have been nearly impossible to appreciate at such a high level without the expert guidance of Hugo and his wealth of knowledge and boundless enthusiasm. Another profound pleasure from The French Book Club. Thank you Hugo and thank you fellow readers.
— JohnHugo is the best teacher! His deep and broad knowledge of the novel, the time period, and the underlying social and political issues and movements makes for a fascinating and invigorating discussion. In addition he provides articles and clippings of interest to the novel and all the issues
